Project
The full title of the project is Demonstration of Vertical Agrivoltaic System Integrated with Thermal Storage. The project is also referred to by the acronym AGRIVOLT CZ.
The project focuses on the practical integration of vertical agrivoltaics, crop production, greenhouse operation, and thermal energy storage. It combines agricultural research, renewable energy technologies, and applied field experimentation.
Its purpose is to test how agrivoltaic systems can support more resilient and energy-efficient farming under Central European conditions. The project also aims to provide practical knowledge for farmers, researchers, students, policymakers, and other stakeholders interested in sustainable agriculture and renewable energy.
This website presents the project background, demonstration activities, news, and selected outputs. During the project period, it will be gradually updated with articles, technical materials, field observations, presentations, and project results.
CARC
The project is implemented at the Czech Agrifood Research Center (CARC) in Prague-Ruzyně.
CARC is a public research institution focused on applied research in agriculture, food systems, environmental protection, sustainable land management, agricultural technologies, and climate adaptation. Within the project, CARC provides the research infrastructure, experimental site, technical expertise, and scientific background needed to design, operate, and evaluate the demonstration system.
DBU
The project is financially supported by the Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt (DBU).
DBU is one of Europe’s major foundations supporting innovative environmental projects. Its funding focuses on sustainability, resource efficiency, climate protection, renewable energy, environmental education, and practical solutions that can be transferred into real-world use.
The support from DBU enables the project to demonstrate and evaluate an integrated agrivoltaic system under practical Central European conditions and to share the results with relevant stakeholders.
